About/January 1st

Welcome to my newest blog! If you are coming here from my blog www.sunnydaymakeup.blogspot.com then you will quickly notice that this blog is quite different. I have made it my resolution, along with my Mom, to go vegan for the year 2013. I need to clarify that this mean I will not be eat or drinking any animal products (dairy, meat, eggs, ect.) I will not be to strict with my lifestyle only with my diet. This is a huge challenge but I think my previous lifestyle will give an advantage. I haven't had cows milk in about five years; my family also doesn't eat meat or dairy very often. We have meat about twice a week and dairy about once every other week. We started eating this way in 2005 when my younger sister Alysia because very sick and needed a huge lifestyle change. My whole family has noticed a immense difference in the way we feel by changing those simple things in our lives. I am excited to now make the change of going vegan 100%. For now this is only for the year 2013, weather I continue to live my life this way or not depends on how I feel at the end.
I have come up with a small list of things I would like to improve in myself by living a vegan life style. I am not upset with the way my body is or the way I look but there is always room for improvement.
  • Brighter/clear skin, my skin tend to be red and like normal teenagers I breakout, I would love to not breakout as much.
  • Flatter Stomach, while I am a size 0 and happy with my body I would like to see an over all improvement in the way my body looks.
  • No more stomach aches, I get horrible stomach aches usually after eating, my hope is that I won't have this problem after I change what I am eating.
  • Stronger teeth and nails, my teeth aren't terrible but they are a little sensitive, my nails are thinner then normal and tend to split to often.
  • Lighter PMS/Cramps, I get horrible cramps that sometimes cause me to miss school, it feels unhealthy and I would really love to see a difference.
  • Even hips, this probably sounds funny to a lot of people I wasn't going to include in this list because it is such an insecurity for me; but my hips are a little off balance making my jeans and clothing fit weird. I have no idea if this diet change will help this but I would like to think that it can.
  • Lastly, no sugar cravings, this would be wonderful and great for me to control now while I'm young. I get my sweet tooth from my Mom and would like to find joy in natural sweet.
I intend to use this blog as diet journal, telling you guys what I find hard, tips, new foods I try, and more importantly how I feel.

Today is January 1st and since I stayed up till 2am I slept in till about 10:40 and read till about 12. For a brunch or a light breakfast I had about 12oz of beet juice. My Mom makes this juice in the juicer with apples, beets, and little bit of lemon and ginger. I was craving eggs really bad but I was glad I put that off because the juice was worth it. I also had a few Brazilian nuts and a couple of dates. I know that for a late lunch I will have toast with hummus. I don't know what I will be doing for dinner but I will be sure to post good vegan dinner ideas in the future.
